Carbon Conversations is a series of guided conversations Surefoot offers to run with your charity, community group, organisation or other group constellation. The aim is to bring focus on the participants’ personal perspective to climate change.
Surefoot will guide your group through the basics of carbon emissions and carbon footprints, and help participants develop individual and organisation-wide plans for a more sustainable and climate friendly life(style). The workshops give participants the opportunity to explore their own values, emotions and identities and bring insight to take action in regards of climate change. The programme is designed to help groups of people lowering their carbon footprint and help them become more resilient individually and as a group through the series of facilitated workshops.
"Bringing the group together helped build confidence to go back into the workplace and give people the space to come up with approaches to change. We have seen some evidence of this happening.” Participant from large public body
Each participant has access to ‘In Time for Tomorrow? The Carbon Conversations Handbook’ and the sessions use a set of games and other activities to focus on energy, travel, and food, and consumption/waste.
The set-up Carbon Conversations sessions include: - 6 meetings, each 2 hours with 8-10 participants - Ideally one session once a fortnight - Day and time of the day/evening will be agreed with you - Two trained facilitators will run the sessions - Online sessions are now an option.
When you gather people to form a team of participants, we recommend that you discuss the possibility of people becoming Carbon Conversations facilitators themselves. Surefoot also provides facilitator training. Equipped as Carbon Conversations facilitators your organisation can run sessions within your organisation and with affiliated people. Feel free to contact pam@surefoot-effect.com to explore options. Take a look at our report on how DuPont in Denmark used the Facilitator Training conducted by Surefoot to support and engage the organisation in Carbon Conversations and subsequent carbon reduction.
