Talking about climate change – whether it is a new topic or one you have been exploring in your organisation for some time – can be challenging and depressing, but it can also be uplifting.
Climate Conversations is a workshop-based approach created in collaboration with the Scottish Government. The workshops comprise 1.5-hour sessions that introduce people gently to the challenging topic of climate change and how to best respond. |

In the sessions, we start conversations around the issues of climate change and open up progressive discussions that build resilience and offer practical advice for people and businesses.
Tackling climate change requires a shift in attitude and lifestyle at an individual and collective level. We find conversations are the best way to start the journey to collective climate action. We can run workshops for you or carry out facilitation training for an individual or a group within your business. We facilitate 1.5 day training sessions. Those participants then facilitate a climate conversation for up to 20 people in their organisation on the second afternoon.

Between 2016 and 2018; The Surefoot Effect helped develop and then facilitated more than 40 Climate Conversations on behalf of the Scottish Government. The results, these conversations and other Surefoot workshops, were used as input for the Scottish Government Climate Change Plan. You can see more information about these workshops below.

Participants want to act on climate change, but they need more information on the subject, the impacts of climate change and the actions they can take to support the transition to Net Zero. Climate Conversation groups also highlighted the need for ambitious and holistic future visions, and a transparent and consistent approach to climate change across all governments.
